English, second half 19th century, brass and mother of pearl floral inlays to lid and front panel, brass side pulls, hinged lid with center inset cartouche with initials opens to reveal mahogany interior with purple leather memo board with green ribbons and red leather writing surface, both with gilt border decoration, with pen holder, interior compartments, pen tray, and small box marked "Mordan's Pens" with ink jar; marked twice with crown above "VR Patent" on locking mechanism.

Good estate condition; exterior with light scratches and dents, areas of rubbing, wear to brass pulls, small chips to wood, and small areas of dry cracking to lid; interior with expected light wear to wood, leather with scratches and marks from use; locking mechanism works well; key included.
