Wool, Central Asia, late 19th or early 20th c.; the red field with repeating Y-shaped motifs in dark navy blue, with panels of geometric motifs and hatch-marks forming a khatch or cross-shaped center, bordered with panels of rams-horn, guls, and serrated motifs.

The ensi is a rug hung over the door of Turkoman tents or yurts.

Some areas of slightly exposed foundation, wear to corners, a small repair, all edges have later reinforcing stitches added, top and bottom edge have frayed plastic reinforcement stitches, and selvages re-bound in dark purple wool, otherwise good estate condition.
