Circa 1780s, watercolor on ivory, unsigned, three-quarter length portrait of a young child wearing an ethereal white gown with lacework collar and blue ribbon sash to waist, delicately rendered against a light blue to white penumbra ground, presented behind glass within a gold filled locket featuring a hairwork plait to verso.

The interior case retaining period artist trade card of William Innes / Engraver Printer and Stationer, / Gracework Street / London / Seals neatly Engrav'd on Stone, Steel and Silver.
The British Museum site lists Iness shop at No.1, Gracechurch Street, near Cornhill, London from 1774.
