American Classical Mahogany Sideboard

Attributed to Norfolk region of Virginia, circa 1840, mahogany veneer, white pine and poplar secondary, applied pointed arch backsplash with plinth form stiles, the case with projecting corners, two convex drawers over two central bow-front banded drawers flanked by two hinged paneled doors with shelved interior, flanked by turned columns, flush sides, front carved acanthus leaf and paw feet, rear straight feet.

57 x 60 x 24 in.

Later screws to backsplash; later one inch strip to back edge of top; top with light surface scratches and dark staining; later escutcheons (some loose); white surface spotting throughout; slight warp to left door (but operable); scattered veneer patches and shrinkage cracks.
