Watercolor on ivory, unsigned, the first circa 1810, attributed to John Wesley Jarvis (1780-1840), depicting a blue-eyed gentleman with strawberry-blond "coup au vent" hair, wearing a navy overcoat with white high collar, cravat, and ruffled shirt, well-painted on a hatched ground, presented behind glass in an ebonized frame with ormolu mat. (Frame 6 x 4 1/4 in., painting 3 1/8 x 2 3/8 in.); the second circa 1835 of a dark-haired gentleman, attired in black jacket with white high collar shirt and black stock tie, appears to be wearing a small memorial on chain around neck, set behind glass within a gilt locket, the verso with engine turned decoration and vacant glazed aperture (locket 3 x 2 in., painting 2 1/4 x 1 3/4 in.).

Overall good estate condition; ebonized frame with crackle and rubbing to brass elements, later paper backing.
