Circa 1790s, watercolor on ivory, unsigned, presumably a couple, one side with portrait of a woman wearing white headscarf and chemise with ruffled v-neckline, the opposite side of a gentleman wearing a black coat with white cravat, both sitters on matching sky blue grounds with suggestions of clouds, presented in a period double-sided gilt copper locket.

Locket 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 in.; sight size 2 3/4 x 2 1/4 in.
