Two Portrait Miniatures, Mary Keating and Francis Keating of Buffalo, New York

Early 20th century, the first in watercolor on ivory, blue-eyed daughter, Mary Carolyn Keating (1898-1972), taken at 3 1/2 years, artist signed "Cornelia Burtenshaw." to lower right, seated in white dress wearing blue slippers (locket 5 1/8 x 3 1/4 in., 3 3/4 x 2 3/4 in.); the second in oil on paperboard, of her father, Francis Root (Roal) Keating (American, 1852-1901), likely painted post mortem as he passed the same year the daughters portrait was taken, depicted in profile attired in dark overcoat, (locket 4 7/8 x 3 1/4 in., painting 3 1/2 x 2 3/4 in.). Both presented behind glass in silver gilt lockets, engraved with dates and glazed aperture containing lock of hair. Lockets marked "Sterling" to interior.

Good estate condition; some surface scratches and tarnish to silver.
