Earl Stroh studied at the Art Insitute of Buffalo, the Art Students League of New York and the University of New Mexico. In 1947, he moved to New Mexico and settled in Taos. Stroh, along with several other artists, became known as the Taos Moderns. He exhibited frequently throughout the course of his long career, showing work at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, the New Mexico Museum of Art, Galerie Seder in Paris, the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and the Harwood Museum of Art in Taos.
