With woodcut device on title page, woodcut initials, ornaments, head-pieces, and illustrated with numerous biblical scenes.

From the Collection of Professor Roberto Severino, Washington, D.C. Francesco Panigarola (Italy, 1548-1594) was a preacher, and was later appointed Bishop of Ferrara and then Bishop of Asti. He was well-known for his sermons, and many were published along with numerous other religious works such as
Specchio di Guerra which addresses military history in the Bible and was first published in 1595.
Wear to leather, edgewear with corners rubbed, occasional small wormhole, joints rubbed with cracking at tail of front joint, spine rubbed with lightly chipped label and small losses at head and tail; ex-libris on paste-down, several pages with residue at hinge; pages lightly toned with foxing and occasional wormhole, ink mark/manuscript, damp staining, and minor edge loss.
