Watercolor on ivory, unsigned, the first of a sitter wearing a low shoulder black dress and long gold necklace, hair curled at the ends, presented behind glass within an ormolu mat and brown leather and velvet case labeled "Made at / Smith's, / No. 2, Milk St., / Opposite Old South, / Boston.," case interior with watercolor test paper retaining ink sketch of a figure (case 4 5/8 x 4 in., painting 3 1/4 x 2 3/4 in.); the second of a woman with hair worn up in curls, attired in black dress with ornate white lacework and fur-lined cloak, wearing bejeweled gold earrings and necklace, presented behind an ormolu mat within a brown leather and velvet case with tooled decoration (case 3 5/8 x 3 1/4; painting 2 5/8 x 2 1/4 in.).
