Circa 1790, watercolor on ivory, unsigned, depicting a bewigged blue-eyed sitter attired in blue coat, over an embroidered waistcoat with white cravat and frilled shirt, presented in a gold filled oval locket with bright cut decoration, verso with glazed aperture revealing woven plait of hair.

Locket 2 3/8 x 1 1/2 in.; painting 1 7/8 x 1 3/8 in.

Painting in good condition; some light surface scratches to locket, with two tears to far left edge, and small chips to obverse glass.
