Mark George Lynch, Jr. was born in New York. He grew up in Raleigh, graduating from Broughton High School in 1959. He attended NC State University and graduated from the University of Florida at Gainesville. He earned his Master's Degree from American University in Washington, D.C. Mark was a talented painter, sculptor and poet.
