Johannes de Laet (1581-1649) was a Dutch cartographer and businessman who worked as the director of the Dutch West Indies Company. He wrote books about various geographical areas using available published sources.

Edgewear to boards, scuffed especially at spine; cracking at hinges with slight separation from text block, still very sturdy; endpapers with printed text and manuscript; woodcuts with later hand-coloring with color bleeding and offsetting; manuscript initials on title page; pages toned with frequent underlining and occasional foxing.
