Stretcher size 40 x 50 in. Frame dimensions 40 1/2 x 50 1/2 in.

Charles Sibley received graduate degrees from Columbia University and from Iowa State University and he also studied for two years at the Chicago Art Institute. Before coming to Norfolk in 1955, Sibley taught at Duke University and at the University of Texas. He was the founder and head of the art department at Old Dominion University (formerly the Norfolk Division of William and Mary). He was the recipient of the Louis Jaffe Chair and retired from academic work in 1980.

Good estate condition, some minor scuffing to canvas; frame with light wear.
