Stretcher sizes 24 x 19 1/2 in. Frame dimensions 28 1/2 x 24 1/4 in.

From a Private Collection, Washington, D.C.

Both sitters depicted bust-length against graduated gray backgrounds. The man wears a somber black coat with stark white dress shirt and cravat. The woman is more ostentatiously attired, with a gold diadem atop her chestnut curls, gold ear drops and variegated precious chains suspending a pocket watch tucked under her black belt.

Lined, with retouching to the faces and backgrounds visible under UV light inspection.
