From the Collection of Professor Roberto Severino, Washington, D.C. Sir Walter Scott (Scotland, 1771-1832) was a best-selling poet and novelist. The Waverley Novels are early examples of historical novels and they were extremely popular in both Europe and the United States. The first novel of the group,
Waverley, was published in 1814, and the rest of the novels followed over the next two decades. Numerous editions of Scott's work appeared throughout the 19th century and into the 20th, attesting to their extreme popularity.
All about good to very good; some with separation from text block, one with cocked spine, boards with light scuffing and edgewear, occasional staining, several with damp staining; pages lightly toned, with occasional offsetting, staining at edges, closed tear, otherwise clean and unmarked.
