Gregory of Tours was a 6th-century French historian and bishop. His Ten Books of Histories, sometimes called History of the Franks, explores the Merovingians in (10) books. In Marolles's translation, the second volume contains the life of St. Gregory and Gregory's lives of religious figures.

Boards rubbed and scuffed, with edgewear and some corners heavily worn; spines rubbed and creased with leather losses at ends, headband on first volume lost, cracking at joints; second volume with dent and small stains at fore-edge impacting several pages; pages with light to moderate toning, several bent corners or creases, and scattered foxing, with occasional small stain, minor paper loss at margin, and writing and underlining/ink marks; a scarce title with only a few copies in French libraries.
