Banastre Tarleton (England, 1754-1833) was a British General known for his ruthless tactics during the southern campaigns of the American Revolutionary War, earning him the nickname "Bloody Ban" (https://www.nps.gov/people/banastre-tarleton.htm). This history of the campaigns was issued the same year as the first London edition, but reprinted without the maps.
Boards lightly scuffed with small stains, edgewear, small tears to leather, and corners bumped; spine heavily creased with chipping, losses at head and tail and loose headband, joints rubbed and creased with cracking at tail of rear joint and head of front joint with lower board slightly loose; lacking free endpapers and front paste-down with rear paste-down separating; interior lightly toned with scattered light to moderate foxing, occasional grime or frayed edge, and one leaf with tiny chip. A good copy with crisp pages of this British account of the war.
