The first year of the TR6 features a high compression 2.5 liter inline 6 cylinder engine, and a four speed manual transmission. The engine has been modified with special intake and triple Stromberg carburetor assembly from Richard Good of Good Parts , for increased performance without affecting economy or drivability. The one year only steel wheels have center hubs, however the original hubcaps are not present.

Exterior in Signal Red, with a black vinyl convertible top. The interior is black and features the first year only steering wheel, and center mounted ignition. Appears to have a replacement dash pad and a new wood dash. An aftermarket JVC stereo is mounted in the console with 6x9 speakers in enclosures in the rear.

Long term ownership by consignor, and garage kept. While mostly original, some items have been replaced to improve appearance and performance. Recent service to refresh from short term storage to include new brake master cylinder, rear brake cylinders, shoes, and springs, clutch system bled, new fuel pump with new line to carbs, new ignition parts, new alternator, oil pressure switch replaced, new engine oil, gearbox oil. and rear axle oil.
