Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Circa 1880, quarter sawn oak circular top with well carved grapevine rounded edge, bold carved pedestal representing the four seasons with wheat / grapes / peaches and raspberries, quadruped base with carved paw feet on casters, with center turned support leg, five leaves and leaf crate, unmarked.
30.5 x 60 in. diameter, each leaf 12 in., total length 120 in.
From the Estate of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pierre Francis Lambert
Underside of the table stenciled 54.
A labeled example of this set surfaced to market this year; however, it is often attributed to R.J. Horner, of which it rivals in carved details and craftsmanship.
Some light surface scratches to the top; leaves are a good match to the table top; center leg appears to have been slightly cut down at the base (likely to accommodate later caster height); the table's underside extension rails are loose and not able to properly function currently to accommodate the leaves.
