Frank Holder is a metal sculptor, painter, and dance artist living and working in Greensboro, NC. He is versatile in a variety of sculpting and painting media, including aluminum, steel, copper, brass, bronze, foam, and acrylics.
Holder studied dance at the University of Arkansas, Stevens College in Columbia, Missouri, and at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He founded the Greensboro-based Frank Holder Dance Company in 1973, and served as its artistic director and choreographer for 12 years. Themes of movement, nature, botany, and beauty are guiding influences behind his artwork.
Holder's sculptures have won entry into many corporate and public collections such as Wake Forest University, University of North Carolina at Asheville, North Carolina Botanical Gardens, and the City of Lakeland, FL. He has shown in exhibitions throughout the East Coast, including Outdoor Sculpture at Hickory Museum Art Center in Hickory, North Carolina; Florida Outdoor Sculpture Competition in Lakeland, Florida; Alchemy in Greensboro, North Carolina; and Avery Fisher Hall, New York, New York.
