19th century, having a shaped foliate molded rim, a scrolled divided handle, above an oviform body decorated with a vignette of Helios on his chariot and the opposing side with a floral cluster, each surrounded by intricate gilt wreath and rose blossoms, the molded base has a ring of cabochons, scepter mark to the underside.

Helios, the sun god, drove a four horse chariot across the sky each day, giving the earth its hours and seasons. He rose from a palace in the east and flew to another in the west. Each night, with his team and chariot, he boarded a golden ferry to sail home.
