Edna St. Vincent Millay (1892-1950) was a poet, playwright, and feminist from Rockland, Maine who spent most of her career in New York. She was the second person to be awarded the Pulitzer Prize for poetry. Millay was commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera to write a libretto for an opera; the result was the critically-acclaimed The King's Henchman that took place in Anglo-Saxon England. This limited edition was published one day after the trade edition.

Boards with large sections of toning, a few small areas of scuffing, edge wear, and corners bumped and rubbed with small paper loss to one; spine sunned with light rubbing, fraying concentrated at ends with additional small cloth losses at head and tail, paper label rubbed, and some separation from text block; one small area of cracking at front hinge; overall clean interior but with occasional mark, tear, or chip, small spots of residue, a few faint stains, and light grime; a small loss at outer margin of one leaf, the limitation leaf with a minor indentation and a photo of Millay pasted by a previous owner; lacking glassine jacket and slipcase as is typical; an about very good copy of this scarce limited edition.
