Johann Baptist Hirschmann was the son of portrait artist Andreas Hirschmann (1738 - 1793). He specialized in pastel and miniature portraiture and worked at the court of Berlin. Apart from his work at court, he was active in Hamberg, Bamberg, Regensburg, Straubingen, Neuburg, and Erlangen.

Minor wear and edge tears with associated restoration and light retouching, barely visible spotting; not examined outside the frame.
