Wisconsin born artist, Johanna Nitzke Marquis found her inspiration in the Pacific Northwest. She studied political science and art at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. She became the first director of public art in Washington state and later a Seattle gallerist. Her political, personal and professional epiphanies are retold through her constructed paintings. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications including The Seattle Times and The New York Times.
