Green cloth-covered boards with sawtooth border and stamped in black and gilt. 8vo; vii, [1], [1]-190pp. plus two pages of ads of Charles Dickens's Works and a 32-page catalogue by Chapman and Hall dated Aug. 31, 1870. With portrait frontispiece engraved by J.H. Baker with tissue guard, vignette title page, and illustrations. Smith I 16.

The Mystery of Edwin Drood was originally published in six monthly parts through September 1870. It was published in book form on August 31st of the same year.

Boards with scuffing and edge wear, corners bumped and rubbed, and a red stain to the lower board; the spine and joints rubbed with wear at ends; interior with light toning, scattered light foxing, occasional minor finger grime and edge wear, and a few small damp stains on edges and corners; one leaf with a taped repair at the corner. Good to very good condition.
