These rifles emerged in the late 18th and early 19th centuries as regional adaptations of the iconic American long rifle. Crafted by frontier gunsmiths in the Appalachian region, these rifles were known for their slender, rugged design and exceptional craftsmanship. Unlike the more ornate Pennsylvania long rifles, they featured plain wooden stocks, iron furniture, and practical embellishments suited for survival in the rugged wilderness.

Overall good estate condition, lock is in operable, ferrous metals have oxidation and aged patina, stock has some tight cracks and working repair at toe of stock.
