Pictorial Persian Room-Size Carpet

Wool and silk on cotton foundation with blue weft, the taupe field with overall scrolling floral and tree of life motifs interspersed with animals and birds, with central medallion formed by a ring of trees within a ring of birds within a ring of animals including pink-striped tigers, the blue spandrels with lion and vase motifs, with main red border of animals and floral motifs within multiple minor borders. Inscription to one end indicates an Iranian origin.
