France, second quarter 19th century, 4 in. enamel dial with Arabic and Roman chapters, brass movement having silk suspension with countwheel striking on a bell, stamped "9542" with "Japy Frères et Cie Med d'Or" pastille, additionally stamped "9540 AT" on the rear tondo case rim; presented within a well-cast dore bronze Rococo style case modeled as two putti presenting a third surmounting putto holding a phoenix, festooned with acanthus scrolls and floral garlands.
