The Martini–Henry is a breech-loading, single-shot rifle with a lever action, adopted by the British Army in 1871. It combined Friedrich von Martini's breech-loading mechanism with Alexander Henry's rifled barrel design, making it a significant advancement over earlier muzzle-loading rifles. The Martini–Henry was primarily used in colonial conflicts, such as the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879, where it gained fame for its reliability and stopping power. It remained in service until the late 19th century, when it was gradually replaced by bolt-action rifles like the Lee-Metford.
Overall fair estate condition, rust and pitting throughout, stocks fit loosely to action, little if any stock finish remaining, chipping and other damage to stocks, various user carved characters present, actions partially function, steel ram rods present, language characters stamped on rear of one action.
