John Henry Newman (English, 1801-1890) was a writer, theologian, and academic who became a cardinal in 1879. Apologia Pro Vita Sua, one of his principal works, was originally issued as a series of pamphlets in 1864 that were then published together in one volume later that same year.

Sunning to boards with a few small stains and marks, wear to corners, and some fading to gilt on spine; hinges reinforced with some scuffing and light wear to endpapers; name in ink on title page; interior lightly toned with some edge wear and folds, minimal scattered foxing, and occasional light grime. Good to very good.
