Robert F. Irwin studied with Lamar Dodd at the University of Georgia in the 1960s. He then earned a Master's degree in Product Design from NC State University School of Design. After founding a successful high end custom furniture company, he lived in Beaufort, North Carolina, and devoted himself to painting and sailing.
