Swedish-born artist Inger Jirby has led a dynamic and international career, shaped by her extensive travels and deep engagement with the arts. In her early twenties, she studied privately under Luis Orozco in Mykonos, Greece, before relocating to Paris, where she refined her skills at the esteemed L'École des Beaux-Arts. She later spent two years in Venice, exhibiting at the prestigious Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation. Her artistic journey took her across the globe, from Greece to Jamaica and the West Indies, before she eventually settled in New York City, where she lived and worked for a decade.

Now residing in Taos, New Mexico, Jirby continues to create vibrant, expressive works that reflect her diverse influences and rich personal experiences. Her paintings have been exhibited in major institutions, including the New Mexico Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe, The Albuquerque Museum, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C., among others. Known for her bold use of color and dynamic compositions, Jirby’s work captures the energy and spirit of the places she has called home, making her an important figure in contemporary Southwestern art.
