Early 19th century case, fire or mercury gilded ormolu, of cylindrical footed plinth form with fine engined turned decoration, the obverse set with projecting round enamel dial, later 19th century platform escapement movement appears unsigned, likely Swiss, top terrace fitted with three small inserts for quills, and ink pot, sand caster, and a deep lift up compartment ejecting a pair of wooden sleeves, the underside with stippled mark "1801" to underside, otherwise unsigned, includes key.
