Bill, 1850. Stated "First American Edition," (from the fourth London edition). Blind tooled sheep with black labels and gilt lettering on spine. 4to; unpaginated, [90]pp. plus Addenda, "Notices of the Press," one advertising leaf, and 20 b&w and color lithographic plates, many with lift-up flaps and overlays. With frontispiece, preface, dedication, table of contents, list of subscribers, and text with tables.

George Pratt (British, ca. 1784-1840) was a printmaker and midwife. First published in 1833, this anatomical study provides detailed illustrations and a close look at the understanding of the field of obstetrics in the 19th century.

Boards scuffed and stained, with edge wear and rubbed spine and corners; separation from text block and gutter cracking; interior toned, with scattered foxing (heaviest at endpapers) and grime, and with occasional stain, chip, fold, or tear; all but one tissue guard present; free endpapers with writing, tears, fraying, and small losses, and several leaves and tissue guards with separation at head or tail; somewhat fragile yet pages clean overall and images bright.
