Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Late 20th - early 21st century, this depiction of the three-masted heavy frigate affectionately dubbed "
Old Ironsides" honors the world's oldest commissioned naval vessel still afloat. The model proudly flies the 15-star United States flag of the ship's heyday and is correctly armed for the War of 1812 with 50 cannon on two decks; her paint scheme is likewise accurate with white applied to the lower half of each mast, the bowsprit and the bow's scrolled trim. The encased ship rests on a sturdy wooden stand.
Case 33-1/4 x 43-1/2 x 19 in.; Model 28-3/4 x 37-3/4 x 12 in.
A 1/3-inch gun port cover has come loose, yet is still in the case. All other elements seem to be intact and present. Excellent overall condition.
