Late 18th c., England, silk thread needlework on silk ground, with painted details depicting the scene from Shakespeare's Hamlet where Ophelia, seemingly mad, strews wildflowers amongst the king's court, with the name "Ophelia" inked to lower center as well as the verse, "Here's rue for you..."; mounted to board and framed under glass with cardboard backing.
