German School (circa 1900), Carved Statue of St. Elizabeth of Hungary

Circa 1900, carved wood with gesso, polychrome and gilt decoration, full-length figure of the 13th century saint, naturalistically carved in the round, depicted after the bread she was delivering to the poor was miraculously turned into roses, standing upon an integral octagonal base.

Some scattered edge chipping, large separation crack at the figure's posterior, some other age cracks, with traces of old glue restoration; crown with breaks and losses; loss to left hand little finger.
