From the Wood Family’s Historic Mulberry Hill Home, Edenton, North Carolina

This is a copy of a painting by Landseer which was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1832. The original painting was a portrait of Lady Rachel Russell, daughter of Rev. Lord Wriothesley Russell and later Lady James Butler, with her favorite fawn Harty.

Yellowing varnish and some smoke staining; areas of abrading and some paint loss to surface; puncture to canvas in upper right corner; some chipping and rubbing to frame, separation and crack to frame liner.
