31 caliber, matching SN 203550 in five places; the 5 in. octagonal barrel is marked ADDRESS SAML COLT / HARTFORD CT. with a naval anchor stamped just before the breech; a brass bead sight is placed at the front; the 5-shot cylinder is inspector-stamped P / GG and carries Colt's signature stagecoach scene; the brass backstrap is marked "USN" behind the trigger; "UDC" (Union Defense Committee) is stamped on the base of the strap along with the serial number.
