Edward Barnard Lintott was born in London. He studied in Paris at the Académie Julian, the Sorbonne, and the École des Beaux-Arts. His career encompassed various roles: serving as librarian at London's Royal Academy of Arts, art editor for The Times, and secretary to the British Ambassador in St. Petersburg.
In the 1940s, Lintott emigrated to the United States, settling in Ridgewood, New Jersey, and became an American citizen in 1941. He exhibited widely, including shows at the Berkshire Museum in Massachusetts and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where his 1943 exhibition "Portraits of Children" was notably well-received. His works are held in numerous prominent institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and the National Museum of Wales.
