England, mid-19th century, mahogany secondary, both in typical slant front form with mother of pearl marquetry inlays, and divided pen and ink storage, the first with bird and floral inlaid motifs, opening to a violet velvet writing service, retaining one glass inkwell (3 1/2 x 14 1/2 x 9 1/2 in.); the second with stylized floral inlay patterns, opens to a deep terre verte velvet writing service (3 3/4 x 14 x 10 in.). Both unsigned.
Edge nicks and surface scratches to veneer. with a few small areas of veneer loss to top; tears and surface wear to velvet; inkwell has chipping to upper rim and is likely later replacement, without stopper/cap.
