Edouard Manet. LETTERS WITH AQUARELLES. New York: Pantheon Books, n.d. [1944]. Limited edition; no 263 of 345 total copies. With 4-page booklet, a single sheet folded, including title page, colophon, and short text; followed by (21) color facsimile letters, reproduced in Pochoir Process by Raymond and Raymond, Inc., and tipped onto grey paper sheets; all laid in loose in blue cloth-covered folding portfolio with Manet's facsimile signature in gilt on the cover; in black slipcase with matching facsimile signature.

In slipcase 10 5/8 x 7 1/2 in.; Book 10 3/8 x 7 3/8 in.

The letters reproduced for the portfolio are those that Manet sent to Mlle. Lemonnier in 1880 when his health had begun to decline.

Slipcase with scuffing and edge wear, with wear concentrated at the corners included tears and small areas of separation; portfolio with the usual sunning and minor creasing; booklet with minor creasing and marks, subtle edge toning, and a few faint spots of foxing; plates with the usual browning from the original glue, an occasional mark, subtle edge toning and creasing, and one with mild waviness to paper; contents very good or better, in very good portfolio, and in a good or better slipcase.
