English Chinoiserie Tall Case Clock, John Buffet, Colchester

Mid 18th century, time and strike brass movement, the dial's silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals encloses a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, applied scrolled brass spandrels; the walnut case with pine back, allover paint and gilt, the shaped waist door embellished with raised chinoiserie decoration; the arched hood door with glass side panels and faced with Doric half-columns; with pendulum, one weight and winding key; signed in arched panel.

81 1/2 x 19 x 9 1/4 in.
