A Private North Carolina Collection

Félicien Rops (1833-1898) was a Belgian artist best known for his prints and for his illustrations for authors and poets such as Charles Baudelaire. His work varied greatly, but frequently featured themes of the macabre and erotic. This catalogue raisonné of the artist's work is considered the most essential and complete.

Lacks seemingly scarce 5th volume; glassine jackets with tears, a few small losses, occasional marks, and light toning; card wraps with light creasing at spines, and wear at spine ends with occasional tearing at joints; the second volume with more significant wear at spine, and the fourth with taped repairs at spine ends; all with blind stamp of previous owner; leaves with mild toning and edge wear, fourth volume with light grime on a few pages; most leaves remain partially unopened. Good to very good.
