Circa 1840s, watercolor on ivory, unsigned, the sitter posted astutely in library holding a text, attired in an aubergine coat with high white collar, with Dutch style sleeves, presented behind glass in a later ornate gilt frame.
Sight size 4 x 2 3/4 in.; frame dimensions 11 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 3 in.
From a Private Collection, Washington, D.C. Miniature appears in good condition; later obscuring varnish; later matting and frame.
