Rebound in full leather, spines gilt-tooled with labels and raised bands, with marbled endpapers and all edges marbled. 8vo; [i]-viii, [1]-320; [1]-292; [1]-203, [1]; [1]-280; [1]-269, [1]pp. Vol. I with portrait frontispiece; each volume with engraved pictorial title page, numerous head and tailpieces, and illustrated with (22) engravings after Gravelot, Boucher, Cochin, and Eisen, engraved by Lempereur, Aliamet, and others (110 total plates). Text in French. Cohen 160-161.

Each 8 3/8 x 5 5/8 in.

General wear to boards such as scuffing and edge wear; joints creased and rubbed with occasional cracking at head; spines with light creasing and rubbing, and wear to ends; volumes extremely sturdy but with occasional cracking at hinges and gutter wear; interior with expected age wear such as toning, scattered foxing, occasional edge wear and small tear, and light wear to endpapers; occasional variation in paper thickness, a few small subtle repairs, and tailpiece in vol. V replaced; occasional damp stains, grime, small stamps, and burn holes, but overall pages quite clean; a few plates appear extended. A lovely and clean set; about very good.
