Driftwind, 11, no. 9 (April 1937): 315-353, [1]pp., featuring Lovecraft's "The Book," p. 342 as well as Lovecraft's obituary written by Coates who noted "His was an abnormal yet strangely gentle and lovable disposition," p. 343-344. Also included in the lot is
Harvest: A Sheaf of Poems from Driftwind, May 1933; 57, [1]pp.; one of 225 copies, featuring Lovecraft's "The Canal," p. 33. Joshi, I-B-iii,-67, I-B-iii-42, and I-C-12.

From A Private Chapel Hill Collector Driftwind was a New England amateur press publication founded in 1926. As the editor states, "Lovecraft was one of the earliest and most valued friends of DRIFTWIND" (11, no. 9, 343). The July 1930 issue features the first print appearance of the sonnet "The Familiars" from the "Fungi from Yuggoth" series.
All issues sturdy and very clean internally; two issues with general light handling and age wear such as scuffing or subtle waviness to wraps, mild toning, light wear to edges, and/or minor spots of grime. The earliest issue with heavier wear to wraps including creasing, tears to paper, small areas of residue, and slightly heavier toning; some creasing to leaves.
