John Speed, Map of Rutland Shire, 17th-Century Copperplate Engraving

Hand-coloring, presented behind mat in a modern, double-sided carved gilt wooden frame that also exposes printed Latin text on the verso. Fine condition (22.5 x 27 in.). Included is a secondary smaller Rutland map, also in a carved gilt frame, with hand-coloring that is allegedly from the 1850s (14 x 16.5 in.).

The Speed map has light toning to the paper and is in exceptionally fine condition for its age; the later map is also in optimal condition.
