Ireland, circa 1880s, carved gilt wood and plaster frame ribbon tied wheat sheaf pediment, the apron decorated with laurel swag branching from a central oval cartouche, issuing a three form candelabra terminating in baluster form sconces, tag to verso reading "R. & W. Clarke,/Carvers, Gilders, Artists Colormen,/Dealers In/Antiques, Works of Art, Pictures, and Engravings/Chimney & Looking Glass Manufacturers,/40 & 41 Grand Parade,/Cork./Oil Paintings Restored. Glasses re-Silvered./Re-Gilt Work Equal To New."

The Furniture Gazette issue from September 29, 1883, recorded R. & W. Clarke’s participation in the 1883 Cork Industrial Exhibition. Their display included a gilt and carved mirror in Queen Anne style and some carved window cornices in the Renaissance style.

Break and repair to pediment with partially detached element; candelabra is loosely fitted to apron; gilt loss to vine stems; some areas of gilt loss and cracking to plaster to frame.
